Exploring the Royal Caribbean Icon of the Seas! The BIGGEST cruise ship IN THE WORLD. We were on that, I still can’t believe I went on vacation after all these years and it was with Royal Caribbean!
Let’s rewind to the summer of 2023 when mommy and daddy hatched a secret plan to whisk the kids away on a vacation they’d never forget. The first surprise came when I woke them up at 4:30 in the morning. Then it was when we touched down in Miami, the gateway to our hidden adventure.
Little did they know, there was more to this trip than met the eye. There was no anticipation that built because they thought Miami was our vacation. Until we woke them up again to “go to another hotel”. As we took the Uber and saw all the ships, my son, Gunner said non-chalantly, “Nana, we’re going on a ship.” I confirmed it and he acted so cool about it, my daughter, Ziana Eliz, was SHOCKED! TAKEN ABACK! We were boarding the Icon of the Seas for a week-long cruise!

A Floating Wonderland
Stepping onto the deck of the Icon of the Seas was like entering a world of wonder. The sheer size of the ship was awe-inspiring, and every corner held a new discovery. From the moment we were greeted by the friendly crew, led by the ever-charming Cruise Director Mike, we knew we were in for something special. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.
Converting Doubters to Believers
I’ll admit, my partner was initially skeptical about the idea of a cruise. But one look at the ship’s onboard water park was all it took to change his mind. Watching the kids’ eyes light up as they caught sight of the slides and pools was a moment I’ll never forget. And let me tell you, the water park did not disappoint. It was a thrill-seeker’s paradise, with slides that sent us flying and pools that beckoned us to relax and unwind.
Entertainment Extravaganza
But the fun didn’t stop at the water park. Each day was packed with activities to suit every taste, from trivia contests to game shows and everything in between. And the entertainment? It was nothing short of spectacular. We laughed until our sides hurt at the comedy shows, marveled at the acrobatics of Aqua Action!, and were transported to another world by the Broadway-style performance of “The Wizard of Oz.” We still can’t over how they got a whole production like that on the ship. And let’s not forget about the ice cast performance, “Starburst: Elemental Beauty,” which left us spellbound with its magical choreography.
Musical Magic
And speaking of magic, a special shoutout goes to Mo5iac for serenading us with their smooth harmonies and beatboxing SKILLS. Their music provided the perfect soundtrack to our days at sea, adding an extra layer of joy to an already unforgettable experience.
Saying Goodbye to the Sea
As our time aboard the Icon of the Seas came to an end, we were filled with a bittersweet mix of emotions. Sad to leave behind the friends we’d made and the memories we’d shared, but grateful for the moments of pure happiness we’d experienced together. As we disembarked and said our farewells to the ship that had become our home away from home, we knew that this would not be our last adventure at sea.
