“I got a little piece of you-hoo
And it’s just like Woo Hoo
Wham Bam Thank you Mam
Woo Hoo
I’m a slut Like You
You say you’re looking for a foo-ool
And I’m just like me too
I’m gonna let ya know the truth
I’m a slut like you…”
From the moment I heard this song on Pink’s latest album I instantly loved it. Which woman wouldn’t!? This day and age it’s rare to find a virgin and just about all women go through their “slut” phase during their college years.
Is it good phase to go through? Not necessarily, but it happens.
I’m a “reformed slut,” Pink stated on Glamours June issue, “It’s my very unsophisticated way of taking the power back. I’ve always had an issue with [the idea that] ‘OK, we’ve both decided to do this. Why am I a slut and you’re the player? You didn’t get anything from me that I didn’t get from you.”
Amen! I don’t think double standards will ever completely diminish from our frame of thinking when talking about sexes, but it’s about damn time that we take that word “slut” as ours and not let it affect us. Men use it to describe a woman and even women use it against other women to define them.
Talk about girl power–
Of course when a guy talks about the hundreds of women he slept with he’s someone other guys admire. A girl actually saying she slept with 10, 20, 40+ guys and she’s an infested whore/slut/skank and so on.
It’s funny that this came out just after me and a friend spoke on how she missed out on her “slutty” years. I spoke on my experience and it was as if I was a story-teller (not saying I had 10’s and 20’s, but you get it, haha. I think people need to see what’s out there before settling down so their not wondering about what’s out there.
Am I saying that sleeping with a copious amount of people is okay? No. Not for men or women, but it happens so what!? Doesn’t mean she’s not a good girl or an ideal wife to have in the near future.
