Why Gift Giving For Men Is Hard

Sunday was a special episode of “Leah Remini: It’s All Relative” on TLC; and just a quick side note that show is hilarious and relationship I can’t wait to have with my own daughters– in the future. Leah had bought an interesting topic up which was ‘gift giving’ when it comes to men and how they ALWAYS get it wrong. I laughed so hard because of how true it is. They teach us at school from a young age to listen and that one listen’s with their ears, but how is it that many boys didn’t learn that lesson?

This is a fun post so please my dear men who are reading this it’s all for fun don’t get offended I know not many or least ALL the time you guys are clueless. And that goes for my darling boyfriend, he’s caring and thoughtful and I couldn’t ask for anyone better. He’s also a great gift giver, but sometimes he just doesn’t get it right, but why is that? I’m sure all of us ladies constantly hint at how beautiful something is or that we’d die to own something– hint hint fellas, that’s an indication we want it! For instance, “I need a big black purse,” it’s direct and straight to the point, no way it can be confused! However, there will be a man or ten-thousand who will get the exact opposite; a black and white small purse. That’s not TOO bad, what’s worse is getting something you completely hate or don’t even know what it is, haha. Really, a baseball mit? For your balls once I’m done with you?

I’m always happy and thankful for my gifts, but instead of asking a woman two weeks before a birthday or holiday when we mention that those ‘silky pajamas are nice’ during one of our outings, maybe you should take note of that and remember that for the future. When it comes to my boyfriend, if he mentions anything he likes I go into my phone and write down what it is so I have a reference to look back at when a holiday or a ‘just because’ day comes around.

Not all gifts have to be something that needs to cost a fortune it can be things that are sentimental. Here’s our example; Growing up I always wanted to go to a drive-in movie, don’t know why just became obsessed with it. It was something I mentioned years ago when we first dated and it was a lost memory– or so I thought. Well, when we went to Disney he took me to Sci-Fi theater which allows you to sit in a 1950’s car, eat dinner and enjoy shows from that era. The moment I saw the cars I cried and you can watch the waterworks here – “We Made It To Disney World”
. Watching back I still cry because it was something he remembered and it was definitely touching, much better than a pair of diamond earrings or name-brand purse.

So my friends on that note there is my-our secret to being a great gift giver! Listen, take notes and make sure to make them cry!
